Description
Delicious salted caramel apple crumble bars with a buttery crust, tender spiced apples, and a rich caramel drizzle. The perfect fall dessert!
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 3 medium)
1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
3. Add flour and stir until crumbly. Press about two-thirds of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
4. In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.
5. Spread apple mixture over the crust in the pan.
6. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples.
7. Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.
8. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
9. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
Use your favorite type of apple, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji.
Homemade or store-bought salted caramel sauce works well.
Ensure the bars are completely cool before cutting to prevent them from falling apart.
