This comforting Creamy Meatball Stew is a heartwarming one-pot wonder that combines juicy beef and turkey meatballs with tender potatoes and peas in a rich, velvety gravy. Infused with aromatic dill, Dijon mustard, and a touch of cream, this dish is perfect for a busy weeknight meal that the whole family will love. Baked meatballs make preparation simple and mess-free, resulting in a perfectly balanced, soul-warming main course.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 large egg
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups beef broth (alcohol-free)
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
2 pounds small potatoes, halved
1 cup cooked peas
1/4 cup sour cream or creme fraiche

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil, lightly greased with nonstick spray.
In a large bowl, combine beef, turkey, onion, breadcrumbs, milk, parmesan, garlic, egg, parsley, and spices; mix gently until just combined.
Form the mixture into 2-tablespoon sized meatballs and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
While meatballs bake, boil the potatoes in a large pot until tender, then drain.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
Slowly whisk in the beef broth and bring to a simmer until thickened.
Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and dill.
Add the cooked potatoes, peas, and baked meatballs into the gravy.
Stir in the sour cream before serving warm.

Notes

Ensure your beef broth is certified alcohol-free. If you prefer a thicker stew, you can simmer the sauce a few minutes longer before adding the meatballs. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
