Description

Indulge in cheesy goodness with these Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes, a creamy and comforting dish everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 1 Small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until soft.

3. Stir in 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of whole milk and cook until thickened.

4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

5. Layer half of the sliced russet potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cheese sauce over it, and repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.

6. Top with remaining cheese, sprinkle with Parmesan if desired, cover with foil, and bake for 40 minutes.

7. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

8. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving to set the layers.

Notes

For best results, slice potatoes evenly and layer them properly.

Customize with herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor.

You can use a mix of cheeses for a more complex taste.

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven.
